Since the economy has crashed, the average credit score has dropped. On average most Americans can't get the same interest rates or loans that they could before. People with bad credit are looking for answers and they sometimes make the wrong decision in who they choose to help them.
Credit repair companies get a bad rap because their are a lot of credit repair scams out there. The scammers usually are thieves trying to steal your identity or just want to make a quick buck because you are desperate. They either take your money and run or just take your money.
No one want to be ripped off, so it is important to always do your research on a company before signing up with them. Most people sign up without even googleing the company or checking their record with the Better Business Bureau at bbb.org.
