Why do people say "you can't remove stuff off your credit report"?

June 17, 2010
I hear it all the time.  Someone asks a question on a forum, blog, or question site like "How do I improve my credit score" or "How do I remove bad credit".  Without fail you will see some "financial expert" saying "You can't remove bad credit off your credit report" or "There is nothing you can do to improve your credit score, it just takes time."

These statements couldn't be further from the truth.  I don't even know why these "experts" think that.  The Federal Trade Commission, yes I said FEDERAL, passed the laws allowing you to dispute items on your credit report.  This isn't something I made up or somehow I'm cheating the system.  It is a law.  You can improve your credit score and you can remove bad credit off your credit report.

It isn't just me either, hundred of thousands of people improve their credit scores every year by removing bad credit.  Lexington Law Firm has reported removing over 1 million negative items in 2009.  Wow, 1 million items removed and these experts keep saying you can't do it.

I'm just a little annoyed at false information and bad advice from people that don't know what they are talking about.  You can do credit repair and you can improve your credit score and don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

It is so rewarding to see people use the site and learn from my questions and answers.  I know the feeling of raising your credit score and it is almost like Christmas or your birthday when you get updated credit reports in the mail.  Every deletion is an awesome thing.

I sometimes hear back from people that have used the site and they tell me how it's going and how much it has helped.  That makes all the work worth it.  So thank you.

Here is story from a guy improving his credit score and used...

Great site for anyone improving their credit

March 2, 2010
Found the ultimate credit repair guide.  It offers a lot of info, samples, and services for free in a very user friendly format.  They do recommend Lexington Law Firm to remove your negative items but you can do it yourself too.  They also show you how to do that.

You can see how to diversify credit, increase credit, reduce debt, and remove negative items and inquiries.  Very good info for anyone that is in the credit improvement field.

Hope everyone can take advantage of this site and I'm sure...

Need Higher Credit Score To Qualify

February 16, 2010
With the housing market slump and bubble bursting, it has become more important than ever to have a high credit score.  Lenders don't want to get caught with anymore foreclosed homes and can't afford it.  So they are watching who they lend to.

700 credit scores have become a minimum for any home loan and that is with a big down payment.  Now with the new credit card laws, starting interest rates on credit cards are much higher because the companies can't raise them later, so they raise them ...

Why Trust The CreditJerk?

February 9, 2010
So with a lot of advice and Q&A sites out there, how do you know you can trust the source?  Most of the time like on yahoo answers you have a bunch of random people giving you advice or spamming you with their agenda.  Sometimes when looking for answers, I would have to scour forums and blogs to find what I'm looking, then test it to make sure it is correct.

Everything I have put on my site has sources and info to back it up.  So not just me (credit expert to toot my own horn) but a slew of ex...

I'm Not A Jerk - Credit Jerk That Is

February 2, 2010
I've had some questions on the name of my site - creditjerk.com.  To be honest, I'm not sure about it either.  I'm not a hater or someone I consider to be a jerk.  But some people might say I'm a cynic or that I don't sugarcoat things.

I take things how they are with no bs and I hope to get the same back.  Kind of the point of the site, no more lies, no more myths, just stone cold hard facts.  No curve balls, just trying to tell it like it is.

It can be frustrating to someone who has never done...

Updating Q&A on CreditJerk.com

January 26, 2010
Getting the CreditJerk website going.  I've entered some Q&A sections with credit questions and answers.  These are the most asked questions I've seen and I'm compiled them all in one place.

I'm sure it is frustrating for consumers who are looking for answers to their credit questions to have to go to all these sites looking for answers.  Many times you get answers from random people or people with agendas that don't know what they are talking about.

I've also put a question form on the front p...

Interesting and Funny Credit News

January 18, 2010
I'm posting any new interesting and funny news on my front page.  I just put up the Saturday Night Live skit with Steve Martin about how to get out of debt.  Very funny and true, people don't know how to save up for things.  We have become a please me now society.  Right on point with that video.

I also posted a couple articles I found on yahoo and cbsnews.  One talking about credit reporting errors, another about how much a late payment affects your credit score, and another about how everyon...

Credit Questions are Answered

January 12, 2010
I have begun to answer credit questions.  This might be my calling.  I have noticed a lot of questions that are commonly asked on forums that I monitor and just throughout the web.  Why not put them all in one place answer them, so people don't have to scroll through mounds of answers to find what they are looking for.

To be honest there is a lot of good stuff out on the web, but there is a lot of misconceptions and myths about credit that just wrong.  A lot of people are led astray everyday a...
